Egyptian Fava Beans (Foul masri)
1 can fava beans
1/4 cup lemon or lime juiced
1/8th cup tahini sauce
1-2 cloves crushed garlic
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons onion diced
tomato and olive oil for garnish
How2:
In a small pot add the can of fava beans on med-low heat, bring to a boil
while that is going in a bowl add lemon, garlic, onion, cumin, salt, and tahini sauce. whisk together.
Once the fava beans are heated well pour them over the tahini mixture.
With a fork, or as I used a garlic masher, mash the beans until it looks sort of chunky but mashed well.
Place back into the pot simmer for 1-2mins to get it a bit thicker.
pour into a serving dish, garnish with diced tomato and some olive oil. eat with pita and a nice cup of tea to wash it down. you may also serve some sweet raw onions and Arabic pickles with this dish.
