Dinner rolls

  • 3 3/4 cups  flour, divided
  • 3 tablespoons vital wheat gluten 
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package rapid rise yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional)

HOW2:

1. In a bowl add 3 cups of flour, save the other 3/4 cup to the side, add in sugar,salt,mix in 2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten.
2. Add the yeast, in a bowl mix 1/2 cup milk with 1/2 cup water heat it up.
3. Pour the warm milk/water mixture over the yeast/flour. mix up a bit.
4. Add the egg,and the shortening. mix again while adding a 1/4 cup of flour at time until the dough forms (you may end up not using it all)
5. Knead the dough into a huge ball, add the dough to a greased bowl and allow it to rest 1 hour.
6. Once rested form the dough into 12 balls, place in a lightly oiled baking dish or pan. 
7. Allow it to rest for 30mins. brush with butter then bake in a 400DF oven for 12-18mins
