Cranberry Sauce

I started to make homemade cranberry sauce after taking a Technology of Food processing class, we learnd how to "can" foods well jar them is more like it one of the things we did was this amazing cranberry sauce i found to be great all year round. Maybe in a later post i will teach how 2 jar foods.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water or orange juice
1 (12 oz package of fresh cranberries)
2 tablespoons orange zest or grated ginger

In a sauce pan add sugar and water, heat on medium until sugar and water dissolve, add the cranberries bring to a simmer lower heat cover cook for about 15- 20 Min's or until the cranberries burst and sauce thickens. add grated orange zest ,ginger, cloves or cinnamon sticks. place in serving bowl cover and chill for 2 hours.

If you like your cranberry sauce much smoother u may place the cranberry mixture into a blender or with a hand blender bend until smooth. place in a strainer strain out the pulp from liquid the cranberry liquid will jell up just fine due to the pectin that's naturally in the fruit.

TIPS: Cranberry sauce can be eaten with anything spread on toast, added to cookies or cakes as a side to briyani i tried this and it was amazing kind of like a chutney Sweet and savory. add other liquids like orange juice instead of water make it your own!
