Kefta Turkish Style (Done on stove top)

2lbs ground beef
1/2 bunch parsley
6cloves garlic
1 scallion
1 onion
2tablespoons red pepper paste (sweet one)
1 small tomato
2tablespoons tomato paste
2 1/2 cups hot water
5 potatoes
6 tomatoes
1-2 teaspoons consume powder
1 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
pinch cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon dry mint
2-3 bell peppers I used both green and orange
Oil

How2:

  • Prep the vegetables, Peel and cut the potatoes into rounds, dice green/orange bell peppers, cut the tomatoes into rounds also. 
  • Fry the potatoes in oil until golden brown or until cooked.
  • Place onion,scallion,garlic into a blender or food processor. blend well at the end add in the spices,red pepper paste. place mixture into a bowl, season with salt.
  • Add the ground beef to the puree mixture, mix well allow it to rest before shaping into balls or oval like balls.
  • Once your ready to cook add a little oil to the pan, on high heat once the pan is hot sear the kefta balls on both sides. This is just to make them brown not to really cook them fully.
  • Lower the heat to med/high.
  • Mix 1 cup hot water with the consume powder and tomato paste.
  • Add the peppers,Pour  the tomato sauce over the kefta and vegetables.
  • Cover the kefta with a layer of the cup tomatoes, Add the remaining water.
  • Layer the potatoes over the tomatoes to form the last layer.
  • Cover with a pan cover or foil cook for 25-35mins.
  • Once its about down you may remove the foil to reduce some of the sauce.
  • Serve it as is or with rice or bread. ENJOY!
