1 lb ground beef
1 onion minced
1 tomato diced
1 teaspoon salt
pinch black pepper
1/4 teaspoon allspice
2 tablespoons
pomegranate
molasses.
1 teaspoon tomato paste
pine nuts for garnish(Optional)
how2:
preheat the oven to 450DF.
Follow my dough recipe.
In a bowl combine meat,spices,tomato.
add the pomegranate molasses.mix again.
roll out a piece of dough. with a tablespoon spread a thin layer of beef mixture on to the dough. pinch edges. Place on a greases baking sheet. repeat until all of dough and beef mixture is done.
allow them to rest for about 15mins.
bake in oven for 15-20 mins the dough will be golden and the beef will cook.
serve hot, with a small salad, or some hot sauce.
Note:This dish gets its name from Balbak, a historical region in Lebanon, they are well known for their meat pies and other pastries i hope you enjoy this recipe as much as i do. the pomegranate molasses can be found at Arabic store, its used in many dishes to add extra tartness.
