Simple Basic Biscuits


  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening or cold butter
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons Baking Powder
  • 2/3 cup milk
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons melted butter
    • some extra flour for dusting


    how2:
    In a bowl combine dry ingredients.To the dry mix add the butter mix until it forms lumpy crumbs.add eggs , then add milk in a little at a time while combining, keep adding until it becomes moist.once its combined dust with flour and turn over on a floured surface kneed a few times.Roll out and cut as desired( when you cut them with a cutter or knife be sure to flour the cutter to prevent sticking). Place on a lightly greased baking dish bake at 450DF until golden for 8-12 mins.once removed from oven brush with melted butter and serve nice and hot.



    TIP: Add 1/2 cup of your favorite cheese for cheese biscuits or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs for a savory biscuits.
