Fried Akawi Cheese


1-2 pieces of akawi cheese
2 tablespoons olive oil
warm water
zaatar(Optional)

How2:
Cut the akawi into not so thick or too thin slices.
place in warm water, allow it to soak and re soak after 15mins in more warm water.
Akawi is very salty so it needs to be soaked a bit to relase some of it. be sure not to over soak it may becomes saltiness.
Heat up a nonstick skillet add olive oil.
Drain and pat the akawi cheese dry
Add to pan cook in a med-high then reduce to med heat once it begins to turn golden after about 15mins it should be golden.
Be careful it may splatter so you may use it 1/2 covered
turn cheese on other side and continue the process until its golden on the other side.
while its cooking get a plate ready with any betables cucumbers,lettuce,tomatoes which ever you like.
place cooked cheese with the vegetables and drizzle a bit of zaatar.
Eat as is or with pita bread
